This is the standard engine in the F250, and F350 model. The 6.2L is designed as a SOHC valvetrain with roller-rocker shafts. This leads to a stiffer valvetrain, with better breathing through an optimized intake, and exhaust port layout. Engineered to generate high torque throughout the midrange of the power band, this engine also delivers peak torque at a lower rpm.
On the F250 model, this engine is paired with the Torqshift® G 6-speed transmission. This version of the Torqshift provides better launches and improved acceleration from rolling stops, with the aid of a higher first gear ratio. The downshifts are also engine speed-matched, and are faster than the standard Torqshift. The Torqshift® G additionaly, comes equipred with SelectShift® technology. This allows complete manual control, or Progressive Range Select (for overdrive lockout). To minimize gear hunting on uphill, or downhill driving; tow/haul prevents upshifting, in order to reduce reliance on brake pressure to slow the truck.
For the F350, and F450, this engine is mated to the TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is engineered for improved shift performance, and optimized drive ratios. Because the transmission and engine components are designed and built by Ford; the powertrain inegrates seamlessly with the chassis components and vehicle calibrations. In additiion, there are five selectable drive modes; Normal, Slippery, Tow-Haul, Eco, and Deep Sand/Snow. An additional Rock Crawl drive mode is available as a feature of the optional Tremor Package. The 6.2L Flex-Fuel Gasoline V8 engine paired with the TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission is the standard powertrain for the F350 Chassis Cab Lineup.
