3.5L PFDI V6

The base engine for the Ford Transit lineup, is a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 gasoline engine. This engine is engineered with the Ford port-fuel/direct injection system. This system is designed to enhance overall performance, through the inclusion of two separate injectors per cylinder. One injector is mounted in the air intake port, and the other inside the cylinder. This technology allows for increased efficiency, by more efficient fuel usage. In addition, because every drop of fuel is being maximized, emissions are subsequently decreased.

Paired to the engine, is a 10 speed automatic transmission, co-developed by Ford and General Motors (GM), that helps utilize the power. The transmission combines dual hydraulic pumps, 6 clutches, and a wide ratio spread of 7.384. Additionally, 3 overdrive gears ensure optimal situational drivability, and better fuel economy at high speeds. See Below for more specific information on power.

Power Output
HP @ rpm 275 hp @ 6,500
Torque @ rpm 262 lb. ft. @ 3,750 rpm
3.5L Ecoboost® V6

The Ford 3.5L Ecoboost® is an upgrade, available on most configurations of the Ford Transit. The engine is not available on the low roof, or medium roof variants of the Transit Cargo, Van, or Passenger, when built as a regular length model. This engine follows along with Ford's mandate of increased power through smaller displacement, in order to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. This engine utilizes port fuel and direct injection (PFDI), to help increase total performance. PFDI places one injector in the intake port, and one within the cylinder. In addition to PFDI, the 3.5L utilizes twin inter-cooled turbochargers to squeeze as much power as possible from an engine with a relatively small displacement. Additionally, this engine (despite being turbocharged) is designed to run on regular 87 octane fuel. Which helps ensure reasonable vehicle operational costs.

The EcoBoost® engine is paired up with Ford's 10 speed automatic transmission, co-developed by General Motors (GM), that helps utilize the power. The transmission combines 6 clutches, dual hydraulic pumps, and a wide ratio spread of 7.384. Additionally, 3 overdrive gears ensure better fuel economy at high speeds, and optimal situational driveability. See below for more specific information on power.

Power Output
HP @ rpm 310 hp @ 5,000
Torque @ rpm 400 lb. ft. @ 2,500 rpm
