7.3L 2-Valve V8 Gasoline Engine

The 7.3L 2-Valve V8 Gasoline engine was built from the ground up as a dedicated truck engine. This engine was engineered with durability, and hard work in mind. It boasts features such as a forged steel crankshaft, robust pistons and ring packs with anti-wear coatings, carbon-nitrided needle bearings in the valvetrain, a cast iron engine block, piston cooling jets, and a variable-displacement oil pump located in the pan. The pump accommodates engine wear changes over time, as well as ensures proper lubrication in cold-weather starts. This engine is rated for output 350 hp @ 5,500 rpm, and 468 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,900 rpm.

6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel Engine

The 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine is our absolute beast. Torque outputs are pushed to their maximum through the use of reengineered injectors in the new 36,000-psi fuel injection system. This helps optimize combustion and provide enhanced throttle response. New forged-steel pistons help to provide less friction (for improved durability), and higher firing pressure capability. In addition, the new turbocharger includes a fully electronic vane actuator for improved cold weather performance. In order to keep everything cool, and running smoothly; a new air-induction system has been introduced. The standard diesel engine has a power output of 270 hp @ 2,400 rpm, and 700 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,500 rpm. Available upgrades allow for outputs of 300 hp @ 2,500 rpm, and 725 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,500 rpm, and 330 hp @ 2,600 rpm, and 750 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,500 rpm.

Torqshift® HD 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Torqshift HD 6-speed automatic transmission is Ford's proven standard. The transmission is versatile enough to be paired with both engines, and robust enough to handle most any situation. A multi-segment friction clutch design helps reduce power loss, maximize oil flow, and ensures efficient performance with maximal productivity. The substantial torque and horsepower output can be mitigated through the use of a 2-stage, 3-plate torque converter design.

In order to ensure that both engines work efficiently at low rpm, the torque converter's low speed lockup capability has been reduced to 900 rpm. In addition, the extreme low end torque of the 6.7L diesel is managed through the use of sinter-brazed pinion carriers. A high efficiency fluid filter allows for fluid change intervals of 240,000 km, and its robust gear sets are fortified by extra pinion gears for medium duty applications.

Available Live-Drive PTO Provision

The available live-drive PTO provision is linked directly to the engine crankshaft. The power takeoff (PTO) provision can be used to power PTO driven accessories such as srpayers, plows, and dump bodies; or shaft driven compressors and generators. The PTO provision offers a torque rating of up to 125 lb.-ft. for gasoline, and a torque rating of up to 200 lb.-ft. for diesel (in mobile operation). The PTO mobile mode is designed to operate at all vehicle speeds and in all gear sets. The PTO provision's torque rating is increased for up to 250 lb.-ft. for gasoline, and up to 300 lb.-ft. for diesel while in Stationary Elevated Idle Control (SEIC) Mode (while parked). The diesel also offer split-shaft capability in order to power multiple auxiliary devices.
