The Explorer is equipped with Hill Descent Control, which modulates the descent on rough terrain without the driver needing to apply the brakes.

For towing, the Explorer is equipped with AdvanceTrac, stability control systems, and trailer-sway control, which adjusts the engine power to maintain control of the trailer.
