This Refund Policy applies to online “Hold With Deposit” transactions and related deposits made with Koch Ford Lincoln Sales Ltd. (“we,” “us,” “our”), an AMVIC-licensed dealer in Alberta.
In Alberta, there is generally no cooling-off period for vehicle purchases. Once a Bill of Sale or lease/purchase contract is signed, you are agreeing to buy/lease the vehicle. Please review all terms carefully before signing.
“Hold With Deposit” is a fully refundable 24-hour hold that reserves a specific vehicle at the price shown on your confirmation email, subject to availability and verification. This online hold is not a purchase deposit and does not, by itself, complete a vehicle purchase.
When you place a hold, we secure an authorization hold equal to 1% of the total vehicle price on the credit card you provide. This is similar to a hotel or rental car authorization. The authorization may appear as a pending charge depending on your card issuer.
If you decide not to proceed with the vehicle during the hold window, the hold is 100% refundable. If you cancel within the hold period, we will release the authorization and you will not be charged. Timing for the release to appear on your statement depends on your card issuer and banking timelines.
If the hold expires and you do not proceed, the reservation ends and the vehicle may be made available to other buyers. If you requested cancellation during the hold period, the authorization will be released as described above.
If you choose to move forward, your online hold amount can be applied toward a purchase deposit or sale, subject to your written agreement. Once an online hold is converted to a purchase deposit, refundability is governed by the written purchase deposit agreement and bill of sale terms. If the purchase deposit is marked non-refundable in writing, it may be forfeited if you later cancel or change your mind, provided we are able to complete the transaction as agreed.
Our team will contact you during the hold period to confirm vehicle details, availability, and next steps. Online pricing, incentives, payments, and availability may change and are not final until confirmed in writing as part of a completed purchase or finance agreement.
For certain internet/remote transactions, Alberta rules may allow cancellation only in specific circumstances, such as where the vehicle is not as represented or required disclosures/delivery requirements were not met. If those circumstances apply, amounts paid may be refundable as required by law.
Approved refunds or released authorizations are handled to the original payment method where possible. Posting timelines depend on your payment provider and bank.
