The 2026 Mustang keeps the EcoBoost, GT and Dark Horse lineup you already know, and adds a few new appearance options along with some feature updates.

The headline addition is the new Mustang FX Package for GT Premium. It's inspired by earlier Mustang generations and adds Oxford White wheels, white exterior details, unique taillamps and a model-specific rear-window graphic.

The California Special Package, 60th Anniversary Package and Wheel and Stripe Package have all been removed from the 2026 order guide, along with Wimbledon White and Intense Lime Yellow Metallic from the regular colour selection.

2.3L EcoBoost Engine

Standard on Mustang EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium, the 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder pairs exclusively with a 10-speed automatic and a limited-slip rear axle. Selectable drive modes and steering settings let you adjust how the car responds to different driving conditions.

Add the available Active Valve Performance Exhaust and you get quad chrome exhaust tips, plus Remote Rev functionality.

The EcoBoost powertrain is available in Fastback and convertible configurations, depending on the equipment group you choose.

5.0L Ti-VCT V8

Standard on GT and GT Premium. A six-speed manual with rev matching comes standard, with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic available, which adds paddle shifters, remote start and Remote Rev.

Go manual and you get a limited-slip rear axle; go automatic and you can choose from available axle ratios depending on your performance package.

The 5.0L V8 is available in GT Fastback, and in GT Premium as either a Fastback or convertible.

Dark Horse 5.0L V8

Dark Horse runs a specially configured, naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 with performance-enhanced calibration, plus:

Ford's guide lists 2026 horsepower and torque as TBD, so we're holding off on exact output figures until Canadian specs are released.

Six-Speed Manual and 10-Speed Automatic Transmissions

Which transmission you get depends on the model:

• EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium: 10-speed automatic
• GT and GT Premium: six-speed manual standard, 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters available
• Dark Horse: 10-speed automatic standard for 2026, TREMEC six-speed manual with rev matching and a titanium-anodized blue shift knob available

Automatic-transmission models can add features like Remote Start and Remote Rev, and some driver-assist functions differ between manual and automatic setups.

Mustang Fastback

Fixed roof, folding rear seat, available across the whole lineup: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium and Dark Horse.

Fastback also qualifies for equipment the convertible doesn't get, including certain spoilers, racing stripes, painted roofs and performance seating configurations.

Mustang Convertible

Power-operated, fully lined cloth top. Available on:

• EcoBoost with the 101A High Package
• EcoBoost Premium
• GT Premium

The regular GT and Dark Horse aren't offered as convertibles. Convertible configurations include a spoiler delete and can differ from equivalent Fastback models in package, stripe and security-equipment availability.

The electronic drift brake is for controlled track use only, not public roads. And since the package includes summer tires, keep in mind Ford doesn't recommend them near or below 7°C or in snow and ice. Edmonton drivers will want a proper cold-weather tire setup for winter.

New for 2026, available on GT Premium. This one's got a retro-inspired look:

With it, you get wider staggered Oxford White wheels, summer tires, Brembo brakes and a performance rear wing on Fastback.

The FX Package can't be combined with Nite Pony, Bronze Appearance, racing stripes or matte clear film.

Available on EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT and GT Premium, this one gives you a blacked-out look:

• Black front and rear badges
• Black 5.0 and GT badging

GT and GT Premium models with both this package and the GT Performance Package get wider staggered Sinister Bronze wheels with summer tires. Not combinable with Nite Pony or FX.

Available on EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT and GT Premium, standard on Dark Horse. Adjust the exhaust character right from the vehicle settings. EcoBoost gets quad chrome exhaust tips when you select this system; GT models get quad chrome outlets too. Dark Horse uses black exhaust tips as part of its standard look.

On compatible automatic models, this also enables Remote Rev.
