I scheduled a test drive for a 2024 Toyota 4Runner. When I arrived, the salesperson(Bradley) walked me through the vehicle inspection details, and we proceeded with the test drive. I liked the vehicle, and we were genuinely interested in moving forward, including discussing a trade-in for my 2024 Ford. After reviewing the numbers, I felt the trade-in offer was significantly below expectations, and the asking price for the 4Runner seemed high compared to the current market. I had done my research beforehand and felt that approximately $60,000 + GST + fees for a 2024 4Runner with around 53,000 km was not a fair value, especially when a brand-new vehicle was priced close to that range. I know dealership has the right to determine the price. I was also told that my trade-in value was reduced by approximately $7,000 due to a scratch on the vehicle. I understand that vehicle condition affects trade-in value, but a $7,000 reduction for a scratch seemed unreasonable and disproportionate. When I asked if the numbers could be reviewed, the salesperson said they would speak with the manager. After returning, instead of continuing the conversation or explaining the decision, the salesperson simply said, “You folks have a good day.” We were surprised and disappointed by how quickly the interaction ended. It felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially after we had taken the time to seriously consider purchasing the vehicle. Even the Manager(Sean) did not show up. The way this situation was handled left us questioning whether we were treated differently because of our race. If that was the case, it is deeply disappointing. A customer may not always agree with pricing or negotiations, but every customer deserves to be treated with respect and professionalism. I would like to clarify that my disappointment was not primarily about the pricing, trade value, or purchase offer. The main issue was how my family and I were treated by the salesperson(Bradley) and manager(Sean) during our visit. While I understand that negotiations do not always lead to an agreement, customers should still be treated with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect that. We felt we were treated differently and disrespectfully, which gave us the impression that we were being judged based on our race. Had the conversation been handled professionally and respectfully, even if we disagreed on the numbers, I would not have felt compelled to leave this review. My concern is about the behavior and attitude we experienced, not the outcome of the deal itself. I hope the dealership takes this feedback seriously and ensures that all customers are treated equally and with respect. Less
